In the context of computer games, we generally have input and output through very few channels.

We need to address (at least) the following physical disabilities as best possible:

Visual[edit]

  • Providing large print options
  • Dyslexia-friendly typefaces
  • Accommodate color-blind users
  • Provide sound effects and spoken (synthesized) text cues for blind users

Auditory[edit]

  • Provide captions for spoken words
  • Provide visual affordences for auditory cues

Mobility[edit]

  • Accept input from assistive devices
  • Avoid high demands on fine motor skills
    • Tiny touch/click targets
    • Fast movement across the page/screen
    • Back-and-forth movement (distance between related buttons)
